This video teams up Michael Gould on drums and Mikael Berglund on bass to demonstrate how to build grooves on drums that lock-in with bass grooves (and vice-versa!). This includes establishing a clear tempo, meter and mirroring what the bass player is doing melodically and rhythmically on the drums. From there the duo builds up a two-measure funky phrase.
